Great Reasons to Get iPod touch over iPhone

Apple app downloads increased nearly tenfold on Christmas Day, compared to the average of previous Fridays in December. Total iPod touch downloads — not just the new ones, but all past and present models — jumped by over 10x on Christmas Day. Flurry thinks that iTunes gift card giving may have driven downloads observed coming from older iPod touch models.
1. iPod touch surpasses iPhone on apps. App downloads on the new third generation  iPod touch shot past iPhone downloads for the first time, beating them nearly three times over. But the safe bet is this was due to Christmas giftees playing with their iPod touch a lot. The trend probably won’t continue.

2. Cost - $100 Cheaper than iPhone - iPod touch comes with a price of $299 which is $100 cheaper than the iPhone. There is 99.9% probability that you will have a phone already. Then why waste extra $100?
3. Lightweight - Thats true! though the difference of mass is just of some grams but still iPod touch beats iPhone because its more lightweight and easy to handle.
4. More Slim -The iPhone has a 12mm thickness while the iPod touch is only 8mm thick. Your hands will definitely feel the difference.
5. No Unlock Required - This is the biggest reason why many people preferred iPod touch over the iPhone. iPod touch does not come locked with any service provider and can be used easily out of the box while on the other hand everyone knows that the iPhone comes exclusively for AT&T users.
6. Better Screen - Though both of the gadgets come with a cool scratch-less screen, the thing that makes iPod touch better is its better video resolution and response time.

7. Bult-ins The iPhone offers a built-in microphone, speakers and 2.0 megapixel camera. The Touch does not. You can't snap a photo and email it on the go with the Touch the way you do with iPhone.
8. Contract-free use The iPhone is designed to be used with a monthly service fee. The Touch is contract-free out of the box. The iPhone requires activation through semi-nefarious hacking before it can be used without a contract and/or phone service.
9. Hackability The Touch is probably just as hackable as the iPhone but the iPhone is a known quantity.
10. EDGE. Surfing on the Touch is a WiFi-only prospect. The US iPhone offers EDGE for when you're away from WiFi hotspots. Even with EDGE, though, coverage is spotty.
11. Sign your life away
With the Touch, you can "take it away, no more to pay", as they say. You won't have to sign-up for a 24-month contract with a service provider, which could well be Telstra. And, if the incumbent gets the exclusive rights, you can be sure of being shackled to one of the less competitive plans on the market.
12. Repair Advantages
If your Touch breaks -- which is less likely given its solid state storage -- you can send it away to be repaired and not overly feel its loss. If the same thing were to happen to the iPhone, which is likely to be your main form of communication, the suffering will be much more apparent.
13. Storage
While it's still not enough for most storage-hungry consumers, you'll get double the storage -- from 8GB to 16GB -- with the Touch, and for the same price (based on current US and European pricing).
14. Near enough is good enough
The iPod touch does almost everything the iPhone can do: play songs, browse the Web, YouTube and iTunes Music Store, view pictures and more. It does, however, miss out on a few additional applications: widgets, e-mail support, use as a removable hard drive, and, of course, mobile connectivity.
15. It's a newer toy
The iPod touch is a more recent device and, while there's no hard evidence to suggest it, there's a possibility that Apple has ironed out any manufacturing issues since its first multi-touch device, the iPhone, debuted.
Apple hasn't had the best track record with its first generation products, such as the battery issues that dogged third generation iPod, battery recalls on laptops or anecdotal problems with the MacBook Pro.
16. Looks can be deceiving
The iPod touch, at a glance, looks just like the iPhone. So why go to the effort of getting an iPhone when you can fool all your friends and colleagues into thinking you're on top of the gadget trend by getting an iPhone imported from overseas.
